a friend tells me that pyracanta berries are edible. is it true? IF YES, how and why are they used?
Thanks, best regards to all
in fact the fruits of the pyracantha, like those of the relative cotoneaster, are edible; they taste like apples, and in fact they are real miniature apples. They are not very sweet, and were used once, when the availability of fruits on the market was not the one we have today. In any case, they are eaten raw, but more commonly they are used to prepare compotes or jams, either alone or mixed with others.
