Over the years of its existence, the tomato variety "Metelitsa" has managed to prove itself well among gardeners. This variety was bred by employees of the Siberian Research Institute of Plant Production and Selection of the Russian Agricultural Academy at the beginning of the XXI century.

The Blizzard tomato belongs to hybrid varieties. It does not have F1 hybrids of the same name. This plant is determinant and reaches a height of forty-five to sixty centimeters. The bushes are covered with medium-sized green leaves. This type of tomato is characterized by the formation of simple inflorescences, the first of which appears above the seventh or eighth leaf, and the subsequent ones after one or two leaves. The bushes of these tomatoes are not standard.
Metelitsa tomatoes are medium early varieties. From the moment the first shoots appear until the final ripening of its fruits, it usually takes from one hundred and five to one hundred and ten days. It is intended for outdoor cultivation, but can also be grown in greenhouses.
Blizzard tomatoes show good resistance to the most common diseases.
Characteristics

According to the method of consumption, Blizzard tomatoes are universal varieties. Vegetable salads are made from them, and also used for salting and processing. Fresh, these tomatoes can be stored for a long time.

Growing varieties
The Metelitsa tomato was included in the State Register for the Ural and West Siberian regions and is intended for cultivation in garden plots, in households and small farms. Today it is well distributed in the territory of Ukraine and Moldova.
If you want to grow Metelitsa tomatoes, sowing seeds should be done in late March or early April. Seeds must be buried in the ground to a depth of one centimeter. Seedlings are planted in a permanent place at the end of May or at the beginning of June. The distance between plants should be at least fifty centimeters, and between rows - at least forty. There should be no more than three to four plants on one square meter.
Further care for tomatoes consists in regular watering with warm water after sunset, maintaining a low humidity, making additional fertilizing and loosening the soil during the growing season. This variety does not require pasynkovanie and garter.
Diseases and pests
The Metelitsa variety shows good resistance to the main diseases of tomatoes. For prevention, you can treat plants with fungicidal and insecticidal preparations. Even a novice gardener can handle the cultivation of Metelitsa tomatoes. Thanks to its delicious fruits and unpretentiousness, this variety of tomatoes has already become a favorite among many vegetable growers.
