The "Malachite Box" tomato variety was bred in Novosibirsk and entered in 2006 in the State Register of Breeding Achievements Approved for Use.

The climatic conditions of Siberia dictated to breeders the necessary qualities that this variety must possess in order to obtain a bountiful harvest. And, judging by the reviews of gardeners, characterizing it as resistant to spring cold and summer heat, manufacturers have successfully coped with this task.

Characteristics

Gardeners and farmers appreciate this tomato variety for its exotic taste: sweetish, with a melon flavor and sour kiwi. It does not at all resemble the traditional taste of tomato. It is noted that the berry contains a measure of pulp and liquid, acid and sugar.

The peel of tomatoes is very thin and can be easily removed during cooking. But for the same reason, tomatoes are poorly transported and stored. "Malachite box" is a lettuce tomato variety that is not suitable for preservation as a whole. They are also used for making juices and sauces. This variety will be appreciated by tomato lovers who suffer from allergic reactions to red foods.

The undoubted advantages include:

  • unique color and unusual taste;
  • the possibility of growing outdoors and under film shelters;
  • fruits do not crack;
  • bear fruit until late autumn.

According to experienced gardeners, the disadvantages of the variety are:

  • difficulties in transportation;
  • when overripe, the fruits become too watery;
  • due to the green color, it is difficult to determine the degree of ripeness of the fruit.

Features of planting and care

Sowing the seeds of the "Malachite Box" for seedlings begins 50-60 days before planting in the ground or under a film. No more than 3 plants are placed on 1 square meter of land. The variety is branchy, it needs to be pinned in 1 stem. The leaves are large, dark green. Due to its high growth, the stem needs a timely garter, otherwise it may break off under the weight of the fruit.

In addition, the variety requires regular feeding with complex mineral fertilizers (superphosphate, ammonium nitrate, etc.).

  • Organic, mineral, phosphorus, complex and ready-made fertilizers, for seedlings and TOP of the best.
  • Yeast, iodine, ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, ash, boric acid.
  • What is foliar dressing and when picking, how to carry it out.

Pests and diseases

The "Malachite Box" is not a hybrid, therefore it is less resistant to diseases. But, bushes of green-fruited varieties are distinguished by high "tolerance" to fungal diseases (phytophthora, fusarium). In addition, due to the fact that the variety grows well and bears fruit in the open field, such diseases of "greenhouse" varieties as apical rot, cladosporia, macrosporiosis, black leg appear much less frequently.

Open field tomatoes are susceptible to diseases such as mosaic... The disease is characterized by the appearance of mottling on leaves and fruits. Infected tomatoes must be removed to avoid spreading the disease.

Pests can also be a source of tomato disease. Whitefly, spider mites, plant aphids - all these pests can be dangerous for the crop. Spraying with special preparations diluted in water, such as Phosbecid, Aktara, Fitoverm, etc., will help to get rid of them.

The unpretentiousness of the "Malachite Box" to weather conditions and resistance to late blight will appeal to any gardener. And the exotic taste, unconventional for a vegetable, will be highly appreciated by both adults and children. Planting a few bushes of these tomatoes in your garden will not go wrong!
