Stress and heat resistant tomato "Infinity" F1: description of the variety and features of cultivation

Scientists-breeders are constantly developing new excellent varieties of tomatoes. These include the Infinity hybrid. Thanks to his qualities, he is gaining more and more fame and love.

The Kharkiv Institute of Melon and Vegetable Growing UAAS, has developed the Infinity f1 tomato variety, which is recommended for greenhouse cultivation throughout Russia and for open ground in the Central, Volga and North Caucasian regions.

Description of the Infinity variety

Infinity is an F1 hybrid plant. Refers to semi-determinant, medium-branched varieties. The bush can reach 1.9 meters in height, not standard... Ripening of fruits is early, occurs in 90-110 days from the moment of germination.

Suitable for growing both in greenhouses and in open soil. Infinity is resistant to a whole range of diseases... It is not affected by tobacco mosaic, Alternaria, root and apical rot.

Fruits are large, round, with light ribbing, weighing on average 240-270 g... Covered with a thin, smooth skin of deep red color. The pulp is grainy, dense. The fruit is multi-chambered, their number can vary from 6 to 12 pieces.

The content of vitamin C is about 30 mg, dry matter 5.3%, sugar 2.9%. Tomatoes are distinguished by excellent transportability and long shelf life. In a cold place, they can lie for several weeks.

Characteristics

Infinity tomatoes can be cooked or eaten fresh as a component of salads. They are not used for canning as a whole, since due to the large size the fruit will not completely crawl through the neck of the jar.

"Infinity" is ranked among the high-yielding hybrids. From one square meter of plantings, on average, you can get 16.5-17.5 kg of tomatoes.

There are many undoubted advantages of the Infinity hybrid:

• immunity to most viral and fungal infections;

Growing features

It is recommended to sow seeds for seedlings in the second half of March and the first decade of April. Seedlings need fertilizing with mineral fertilizers at intervals of 10-12 days... In May and June, the bushes can be transplanted outside, keeping a distance of 30 × 35 cm.

Like other semi-determinant plants, Infinity produces many fruits to the detriment of root development and green mass. As a result, the growth of shoots may stop. To avoid this, you should regularly introduce fertilizing - both organic and mineral.

The bush needs pinching... Usually, all excess shoots are removed, forming a bush from one main and one lateral stems. Be sure to tie the bush to the trellis so that the brushes of large fruits do not break the shoots. Watering is done regularly, at least 1 time a week, more often in dry weather.

Pests and diseases

The Infinity variety has a very strong immunity and rarely suffers from diseases inherent in greenhouse tomatoes. With constantly high humidity, it can suffer from late blight. For prevention, the bushes can be treated with such fungicides as Ditan, Ridomil Gold, Bravo, Quadris. They are also suitable for the treatment of the disease. Among the pests, the most malicious are the scoop caterpillars. They actively eat leaves and fruits. Chemical insecticides such as Arrivo, Decis, Proteus will save from these insects.
