The leaves are light green and double-pinnate. By the ripening time, this tomato variety belongs to the early maturing varieties. The fruits reach maturity on the one hundred and fifth day after emergence with an extended turnover of cultivation, and in spring and summer they ripen after ninety to one hundred days.

This hybrid variety shows a fairly high resistance to diseases such as cladosporium, tobacco mosaic, nematode and fusarium. Tomato "Olya" can be grown both in greenhouse conditions and in the open field.

Unripe fruits of this variety are green in color, and when ripe, they become bright red. They are characterized by an average size and a flat-round, slightly ribbed shape. Their diameter is usually between sixty and seventy millimeters.

Growing features

To grow this variety in the open field, in a greenhouse, under a film or in a polycarbonate greenhouse, you must first tackle the seedlings. First, you need to prepare the correct soil. It should consist of one part of peat, one part of sawdust and two parts of greenhouse land.

Sawdust should first be poured with boiling water, and then twice filled with a solution of urea, brought to a boil. To prepare this solution in one liter of boiling water, you need to dissolve one tablespoon of urea.

In one bucket of potting soil, add two handfuls of crushed chicken eggshells, as well as half a liter of ash and two to three tablespoons of superphosphate or potassium sulfate. After thorough mixing, pour a hot solution of potassium permanganate into the soil, and then wait until the earth has completely cooled down and fill the containers for growing seeds with it exactly to half.

Planting seeds should be done in March, and in May you can plant seedlings in open ground... Provide each bush with a solid support, tie them up and in a hundred days you can expect a crop to appear. The plant does not require grazing after the appearance of the first brush, but it needs regular watering and mineral-organic feeding.

As fertilizers for tomatoes, you can use:

  • Organic.
  • Mineral compositions.
  • Iodine.
  • Yeast.
  • Hydrogen peroxide.
  • Ammonia.
  • Ashes.
  • Boric acid.

Mulching will help control weeds.

Advantages of the Olya tomato variety:

  • high productivity;
  • resistance to high and low temperatures;
  • disease resistance;
  • good tolerance to low light;
  • high commercial quality of fruits.

The only drawback of this variety is that each tomato bush requires reliable and solid support, which you should take care of in advance.

Diseases and pests

Although the tomato variety "Olya" f1 is highly resistant to most diseases, it can be affected by diseases such as late blight, rot and brown spot. Late blight is characterized by the appearance of brown spots on the leaves of the plant and a whitish bloom on their inner side.

At the same time, the fruits also suffer from brown spots. To prevent this scourge, tomato seedlings should be treated with a solution of the "Zaslon" preparation on the twentieth day after planting in open ground. After another twenty days, it is recommended to carry out the treatment with "Barrier".

When the first signs of a disease appear, the plants can be sprayed with a solution of garlic or with oxych, two tablets of which must be dissolved in ten liters of water. To get rid of various types of rot and brown spot, plants and soil should be treated with a solution of copper sulfate. Read more about methods of protection against late blight and about varieties that are not susceptible to this disease.

On our site you will also find a lot of useful information about diseases of tomatoes in greenhouses and methods of dealing with them, about high-yielding varieties with good immunity. And also about such common diseases as Alternaria, Fusarium, Verticillosis.
