Cast iron garden fountains
Cast iron garden fountains are a classic of many Italian gardens and many squares. Cast iron is an ancient material, always used for street furniture; this is because cast iron is practically indestructible over the years, resistant to atmospheric agents and resistant to neglect or inattention. Certainly a material that maintains a particular charm over the years. This material has been used for centuries as well as for its sturdiness also because it is very versatile, and allows to produce, with the use of special molds, fountains of various shapes and of various sizes.
Forms and measures
In most cases the companies that produce cast iron products tend to choose very classic products, with decorations and friezes that recall the old cast iron fountains, often still present in the cities; however, there are some rare exceptions. In any case, the colors are the most classic: the typical dark gray color of cast iron, which can be glazed in green, white and ivory; hardly found cast iron fountains of another color.
The cast iron garden fountains then they are almost always of column type, that is they have a squat column, often in the shape of a truncated pyramid, to which is attached a faucet in style, with a possible water collection tank. You can also find wall fountains or circular fountains, never too large, to prevent the fountain from reaching an excessive weight. Given the strength of the material, the cast iron fountains they can also be of small dimensions, presenting thin circular columns, which carry the tap.
Cast iron products are shock-resistant and also weather-resistant; to always have one cast iron fountain beautiful and maintain it over time it is possible to paint it periodically, leaving quietly to pass some years after having painted it. Special glazes are used, so it is possible to remedy any flaking or peeling of the paint (if present) or change the color of our fountain.
However, this material is often not painted, leaving it with the gray-black color that characterizes it, and therefore does not need to be painted.
